Interview Projects [link] is a 20,000 miles road trip over 70 days across the United States video interviewing different, ordinary folk of America. It is a snap shots of sort, of the people of the land telling their story, mostly very sad, answering very difficult questions. Presented by David Lynch, this is an fascinating collection and aptly unsensational which makes them feel extremely heartfelt and, well, real.
So far there has been about 120 odd short interviews [3-5 minutes usually] posted on the site, all starkly different characters, discovered by the crew along the way. All of them have something interesting to reveal though, with wonderful expressions, and a unique ability to tell stories. Most seem, so far, like your stereotypical religious, middle American. lowly aspirational redneck [in outward appearance anyways], from difficult families/upbringings and poor or challenging circumstances. Give them a go. Some re quite hard watching.
