I was pleasantly surprised recently while on the Edward Tufte site. I was contemplating buying a poster only to notice while filling out some mailing details, that under the countries listings NZ is listed as ‘New Zealand (Aotearoa)’. Nice little attention to detail there. But I guess from the godfather of Information Design, I wouldn’t of expected anything else.
Also in Tufte news, on March 5th, 2010, it was announced that Barack Obama would appoint Tufte [among others] to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s Recovery Independent Advisory Panel “to provide transparency in the use of Recovery-related funds.” Correspondingly, Tufte’s new visualization work now fronts the Obama site. Something to be said for using infodesign for advocacy at the top-level. Obama knows where it’s at!
